Lucy and the nightmares

Loes is a happy little girl but she is plagued by nightmares. When she finally falls asleep, she is woken up by scary monsters. She has tried everything, but they are always there. One evening she devises a very clever plan. The monsters didn’t see that coming!

This is the first semi-autobiographical ‘Gouden Boekje’ (Golden Booklet) ever. Loes Riphagen herself has had nightmares her whole life. In her dreams she is regularly visited by monsters. Now, she uses it to her advantage: by using them in her illustrations.
